Gifts to The Indian Hill Historical Society are tax deductible. The Society is a non-profit corporation, qualifying as a 501(c)(3) organization with the IRS. It is registered with the Attorney General of the State of Ohio under the Ohio Charitable Trust Act, and has received certification by the Ohio Association of Historical Societies and Museums.
Donations can be made to the Society general fund and can be made for a specific reason or memorial. A letter of recognition will be sent to both the donor and the person being honored or memorialized. All checks for this purpose should be made out to The Indian Hill Historical Society and mailed to 8100 Given Road, Cincinnati, OH 45243. Bequests made via Last Will and Testament will be acknowledged to the family of the deceased.
Another possible consideration would be the gift of appreciated assets-those that have increased in value since you bought them. When you make a charitable gift, you can take an income tax deduction for the current value of the asset. You can also realize a special financial advantage since you are not liable for capital gains tax on the appreciation of an asset given to a qualified 501(c)(3) organization. However, please consult your attorney or accountant regarding this procedure. |
